We are privileged that she has agreed to let the Striporama carry her first person accounts of life in the Bunker.

Dear Computer,

Tom deLay and Ken Lay are legends around here as the rowing team that gerrymandered Texas.

Lay coughed up the finances and deLay was the brains of the operation. Together, they rowed around ethics rules and legislative protocol and human decency and repectability. When they crossed the finish line, the entire gym erupted in applause.

Now, of course, it's a different story. Lay has been indicted in the Enron collapse and deLay is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee. As a general rule, since the Enron indictment, anything connected with either Lay or Enron has been carefully excised from the Tri-Lateral Commission gym.

Except the Illuminutty, duh.

DeLay himself is like a political cockroach, surviving despite a thousand traps set all around him. In Molly Ivins' words, it is hard not to admire deLay:

Well I think you really have to understand the magnitude of the achievement with what brother Delay has done here. He is accused of breaking Texas campaign finance laws. Texas did not have any campaign finance laws. I mean you have to go some to get yourself busted on that charge. And brother Delay has just taken it to the limit.

Dear Computer,

After Tom Ridge and Ken Lay made had their respective announcements to make last week, they both ended up down here in the gym where Tom gave Ken a nuggie.

Boy, what a couple of jokers!

In a way, the Department of Homeland Security is a lot like Enron used to be. It's big and bureaucratic and no one's quite sure what it does.

Ken Lay takes as much responsibility for the demise of Enron as Tom Ridge takes for Homeland Security. Tom Ridge says that he knows there's a credible terror threat, but refuses to raise the terror threat level. Likewise, Ken Lay says he may have been responsible for Enron's problems, but he refuses criminal culpability. In short, these guys know, but they don't know. They take responsibility, but they don't take responsibilty. They get in front of the cameras to speak, but they don't say anything.
