Well Thomas White has resigned. CNN has him being fired by Rumsfeld, which is probably the case. They have been at loggerheads for a while.
At least for a few hours, Enron will once again be in the news as it is inseparable from mention of White. By Monday, the media will have forgotten Thomas White entirely. I have been reading about his resignation online. I have surfed through all the news channels and haven't heard anything, though it was Rod, half asleep in front of the television, who let me know about the resignation.
But it's all too late.
One of the things White is working on is the privatization of small arms depots and arsenals. This is the truth. Tillie Fowler, one of the Defense Policy board members, has been mentioned as White's replacement. I think she may be black. Anyhow, White's ouster has de facto put Rumsfeld in as secretary of the army. Perhaps it's just as well. The White/Rumsfeld rift is the type of thing that in another age might have led to civil war.
I tried reading Krugman's article on Gephardt's health care proposal and I could not finish. It seems like so much bullshit. Nothing can happen in government without the Bush seal of approval. I'm assuming Gephardt is the Bush approved democratic opponent, having had Bush's brother-in-law serving on Gephardt's staff (sister Dorothy's husband). The media has been covering this proposal of Gephardt's quite positively. That's a sure sign of government sanctification.
Anyhow, we should all be very afraid.
